Cevin, a Black-Filipino, female-owned local brand run by Christian Hambrick and Erica Fenwick, was the brand I interned with. The ladies at Cevin specialize in upcycling preloved clothing, reconstructing them into unique pieces that reflect their personal style. Working with limited fabric during the reconstruction process presented challenges, but it sparked my creativity, forcing me to make things work with what I had. Designing outside my usual style allowed me to diversify my work, as Cevin embraces alternative fashion and draws inspiration from Japanese and Korean influences. This experience not only expanded my design capabilities but also deepened my understanding of my role as a designer.
